Academic Village

Pitt-Greensburg's Academic Village houses the living and learning community for the David C. Frederick Honors College at Pitt-Greensburg (FHC-G). Additionally, students in good academic standing who participate in Pitt-Greensburg's Outside the Classroom Curriculum (OCC) can apply for a limited number of openings each year. A small number of spaces are available for incoming first year students each fall on a first come, first served basis. The Academic Village is the central hub for FHC-G, allowing students to become an integral part of a thriving community of students and faculty members who share common interests in the areas of academic excellence, intellectual curiosity, and a commitment to social good.

Academic Village Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible to live in the Academic Village?

New students must submit a Housing Application. On the application, indicate Academic Village as the first location preference. New students that are eligible will be placed based on the date the housing application is received. To be eligible, new students must have a minimum 3.0 QPA and not enrolled in the Bridge Program.

Students accepted into the David C. Frederick Honors College at Pitt-Greensburg will be given first consideration for the FHC-G Living and Learning Community, housed in the Academic Village, provided they meet all housing application deadlines.

Do I need to live on campus to be part of the Academic Village?

No! While there is no application process for students who will not be living in the Academic Village, we encourage non-resident students to participate in Academic Village programming and become part of life in the Academic Village.

Students who live in other residence halls on campus are of course welcome to participate in Academic Village activities, as well!

Once I've been accepted in to the Academic Village, is there any way I can lose my place?

Yes. The only students guaranteed placement in the Academic Village are those in Honors College, who must complete the room selection process by the stated deadlines each year. Other Academic Village residents must maintain a minimum 2.0 and accumulate 150 GEM/OCC points by spring break to be eligible. All students that are eligible for the Academic Village must then participate in room selection where they may select a space in the Academic Village, but they are not guaranteed placement.
