On Saturday, April 28, the Alumni Association held it’s
annual Leader’s Breakfast meeting where it recognized our
2007 Class Agents, Megan Walsh and Michelle Riley. At the graduation
luncheon, the PGAA recognized Lori Jakiela as the winner of the
PGAA 2007 Outstanding Faculty Award. Dr. Robert Whipkey ‘77
accepted the PGAA 2007 Alumnus of Distinction Award during the
Commencement Ceremony where 184 students processed. Congratulations
to all our graduates and new young Alumni.

Sidary,
Alberts earn top honors in Resume Contest
In March and April, the Office of Career Services and the Pitt-Greensburg
Alumni Association co-sponsored a Resume Writing Contest that
drew 40 student submissions.
Two top prizes were awarded. A $100 cash prize was awarded to
Jenna Sidary ‘07 of Monongahela, PA for
having the best submission. A $50 cash prize was awarded to Kristin
Alberts ’07 of North Huntingdon, PA for her runner-up
submission.
Eight other students were awarded Honorable Mention certificates:
Andrew Bock ‘07, Beth Hood ‘07, Jaime Lindner
‘07, Michelle Riley ‘07, Jason Spinola ‘07,
Laura Lucas ‘08, Benjamin Fiorina ‘08, and Suzanne
Pohland ‘08.
The contest was judged by a panel of six Pitt-Greensburg Alums:
Susan Campbell ‘86, Wendy Mackall ‘92, Steven
Matzus ‘02, Nancy Fischione ‘04, Jim Vikartosky ‘04,
and Carrie Smith ‘06.
Thank you to these six individuals for making this contest possible
as well as to the 40 students who submitted resumes.

Paula C. (Dziedzic) Luff ‘88
was recently promoted to Assistant Vice President for Enrollment
Management at DePaul University in Chicago. DePaul is the largest
catholic university in the country and the largest private university
in the mid-west.
Roslyn (Ciacco) Karstedt ‘98
recently gave birth to her second child, Katelyn Belle on Mar.
6, 2007. Roslyn and her husband, Rick, also have 2 year-old son,
Alex.
Cassandra Scott ‘99 and Nicholas Johnson
were married on October 20, 2006.
First
Pitt-Greensburg senior commissioned
Matthew Wright ‘07 Political Science,
of Kittaning, PA was commissioned on Tuesday, May 1, in
the first such ceremony ever held at Pitt-Greensburg since
the ROTC program has been offered on campus. Wright, son
of Robert and Joyce Wright, will be assigned to the 570th
Engineer Sapper Company and stationed at Fort Hood, Texas.

Amy Rhodes ‘00
recently earned her Masters degree from the School of Education
at the University of Pittsburgh, was inducted into the Pi Lambda
Theta honor society, and started working in the Office of Student
Life & Compliance at PITT.
Carrie Smith
‘06 and PJ Rey
recently started a small business called Dish Hands which
will publish two literary magazines per year in addition
to other printing jobs. They are currently looking for submissions

YMCA Croquet Tournament
On Sunday, June 10, 2007, the
University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg campus will be opening
its campus to the Greensburg YMCA for their annual Croquet Tournament.
Alumni wishing to attend the Croquet tournament can earn
croquet admission ribbons by acquiring sponsorships and donations to
support the 2007 Bobcat Golf Outing. Proceeds from the golf outing benefit
the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg student scholarships, the
Pitt-Greensburg Alumni Association, and athletics.
| To earn one (1)
Croquet Admission ribbon, Alumni must submit three (3) sponsorships
for the Bobcat Golf Outing, in any combination, from the
following:
- Participant—$150 per person
- Tee Sponsor—$150
- Hole Sponsor—$100
- Monetary donation—$100 minimum

To earn two (2) Croquet Admission
ribbons, Alumni must submit one (1) sponsorship for the
Bobcat Golf Outing, from either of the following:
- Foursome—$600
- Fairway Sponsor—$650
|

Mark your calendars to be at Totteridge
Golf Club on Monday, June 25, 2007.  Proceeds
from the event benefit the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg
athletics programs, student scholarships, and the Pitt-Greensburg
Alumni Association. Challenge your skills on one of the area’s premiere
courses while helping our students and your Alumni Association.
The day will include:
8:30 a.m. - Registration and Continental Breakfast
10:00 a.m. - Shotgun start (Best ball format)
12:00 p.m. - Boxed lunch on the golf course
3:00 p.m. - Dinner and prizes
The event will be limited to 100 golfers. Packages
including hole sponsorships are available to enhance your support
of the event. In addition sponsorships, donations, and participation
in the golf outing can help you earn admission ribbons to the
Greensburg YMCA Croquet Tournament. (See the article above on

Alumni gathered on May 1, 2007 to enjoy a catered meal and to
catch up on things. Guest speakers Steve Gifford,
Executive Directory of the Greensburg Community Development Corporation,
and Mike Langer, President of the Westmoreland
Cultural Trust, highlighted some of the arts and cultural events
taking place as well as the direction for expanding the arts and
cultural offerings in the Greensburg community.
May 1st was the last luncheon scheduled for
this school year.
Monthly luncheons will resume starting Tuesday,
Oct. 2, 2007.

Homecoming 2007 will be celebrated the weekend of October 19th. On Saturday, October 20, our football team meets the University of
Cincinnati in the annual "River City Rivalry" game.
Pull out the PITT gear, bring your family, and head to Greensburg for a Homecoming celebration. The Alumni Association is planning a 2-day event
that weekend including:
Friday, October 19
- Alumni dinner
Saturday, October 20
- Tailgating at Pitt-Greensburg
- Bus trip to and from Heinz field
All of campus is welcome to attend along with your family.
