New Student Move-In Day
On Thursday, August 23, 2007 the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg will welcome its Freshman class along with other new students joining our campus family. Greet our new students and their families as they sign in at the registration tent.
Remember your first day at college and how that one friendly smile helped put you at ease? This is an excellent opportunity for you to return that gesture by saying hello to new students and making them feel at home. .

Even an hour of your time can make the first day of school a happy memory for a future Alumnus.

Homecoming 2007
Homecoming 2007 will be celebrated the weekend of October 19th.
On Saturday, October 20, our football team meets the University of
Cincinnati in the annual "River City Rivalry" game.
Pull out the PITT gear, bring your family, and head to Greensburg for a Homecoming celebration. The Alumni Association is planning a 2-day event that weekend including:
Friday, October 19
Celebration Reception
- Buffet and refreshments
- Casino party for adults
- Open gym with activities for children
Area hotels offer discounts to Pitt-Greensburg clientele.
Details on a block of rooms being reserved to follow.
Saturday, October 20
Family tailgating on Pitt-Greensburg campus
Bus trip to and from Heinz field for the game
All Pitt-Greensburg Alumni, faculty, staff, and students
are welcome to attend along with family.

The Pitt-Greensburg Alumni Association(PGAA) is currently seeking nominations for alumni interested in serving on the PGAA Board of Directors. Those who graduated from or completed three semesters of course work at Pitt-Greensburg are eligible to serve on the PGAA Board of Directors.
Deadline for submitting nominations is Friday, August 31 2007.

Each year the Pitt-Greensburg Alumni Association (PGAA) acknowledges excellence among the Alumni at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg.
Currently, the PGAA Executive Board is seeking nominations for the PGAA 2008 Alumnus of Distinction Award. The PGAA award is presented to a person who is a graduate of Pitt-Greensburg or who has completed three semesters of course work at Pitt-Greensburg. The nominee must demonstrate excellence in his/her profession and dedication to service in the community as well as to the University of Pittsburgh. Alumni may be awarded this distinction only once.
We recommend that candidates not be informed that they have been nominated for this award. Nominations will be accepted via mail, fax and e-mail until Friday, September 21, 2007.

Alumni who are interested in presenting a Career Workshop during the next UPG EDGE Career Seminar at the beginning of Spring semester 2008 are asked to contact Brian Root ‘04 (724-836-7606) or Beth Tiedeman, Director of Career Services (724-836-7182). Alumni presenters are being sought to present workshops on topics such as: interviewing, internships & graduate school, resume writing, professional/business etiquette, and financial planning for the recent grad, as examples. Any topic of interest for the student preparing to enter the job market are welcome.

Dr. Donald Ravasio recently joined Mercy Orthopedic Associates, a part of Mercy Primary Care Inc. Dr. Ravasio attended Pitt-Greensburg for 3 years before leaving to complete his chiropractic and medical degrees. Dr. Ravasio is board-certified in orthopedic surgery.
Romy Shinn Piccolella ‘00 recently had two poems accepted for publication in two journals, The Fourth River and online at languageandculture.net. Romy currently lives in Liberty, PA with her husband and 2 1/2 year old son.

One-of-a-kind necklaces designed by psychology professor Dr. Diane Marsh are available for purchase at the Millstein Library to benefit the Beth Cassell Fund for Student Resources. The fund was established by the faculty in honor of Mrs. Cassell, the wife of former Pitt-Greensburg President Dr. Frank A. Cassell, who retired July 1 after 10 years at the University. The fund was established to provide small grants to help students with their professional-development projects.
Each necklace is unique and several have already been sold. Necklaces may be viewed in Millstein library weekdays from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm Feel free to stop by when you have a chance or call the library at 724-836-9687 to arrange a more convenient time, if necessary.
