Smith, vice chancellor for academic affairs, provost and vice president for academic affairs, and special projects advisor for National University and for the National University System, has been named president of the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, effective July 1, 2007.

Prior to being named to her positions at National University and the National University System, Smith served from 2001 to 2006 as professor of management systems and dean of the Colleges of Business and the Faculty of Business at Fordham University. She also was dean of the College of Business Administration at Fordham from 1990 to 2001. Smith's professional experience includes service as an economist for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and as a district manager for American Telephone and Telegraph Company.

Smith served as governor of the Security Traders Association from 1997 to 2005; a trustee of St. Barnabas Hospital, Bronx, N.Y., from 1997 to 2006; chair of the Partners in Health Board of Trustees in 2000-02; president of the NASDAQ Stock Market Educational Foundation, Inc., in 2000; and public governor of NASD, Inc., from 2000 to 2006. She is the coauthor of Finding the Best Business School for You: Looking Past the Rankings (Praeger Publishers, 2006) and Faculty Retirement in the Arts and Sciences (Princeton University Press, 1991) and has published more than 40 professional articles and book reviews.

Smith was a Visiting Fellow with the New York State School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University during the 2005-06 academic year and a Visiting Senior Research Economist for Princeton University in 1988-90.

Smith received her B.A. degree, summa cum laude, in 1970; M.A. degree in 1972; and Ph.D. degree in 1974, all in economics from Rutgers University.

Mark Stauffer ‘79 was awarded the UPG Award for Distinguished Service in recognition of his outstanding work and achievements. Mark received his award at Honors Convocation in March.

Mike Testa ‘84 is founder and president of Testa Consulting Service, a Pittsburgh-based company that provides staffing services for businesses in need of specialized workers and which was named one of the city’s 100 fastest-growing companies.

Justin Cilenti ‘94 joined law firm Riker Danzig Scherer Hyland & Perretti as an associate in the New York office. He is an attorney focusing on insurance and commercial litigation.

Megan Walsh ‘07 was recently chosen by Student Services as a Class of 2007 Class Agent.

Michelle Riley ‘07 was recently chosen by Student Services as a Class of 2007 Class Agent.

On Friday, April 27, 2007 from 4:30-6:00 p.m. in the Alumni Pavilion, the Alumni Association is hosting a Graduation reception for the Class of 2007. The reception will provide prospective graduates with an opportunity to meet you, their future fellow Alumni. We hope you will join other Alumni in welcoming the new members.

On Saturday, April 28, 2007 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. in Lynch Hall, the PGAA is hosting a Leader’s Breakfast and Association meeting. Those who attend will have an opportunity to vote on tentative changes to the PGAA constitution and bylaws.

Alumni gathered on April 3, 2007 to enjoy great food, catch up on things, and listen to this month’s speaker, Tanya Conde ’97. We appreciate Tanya sharing her expertise and tips on how to maintain a safe computer environment.

The luncheons offer an excellent opportunity for you to take a break from your busy day and we hope to continue meeting new Alumni each month. Remember to bring business cards and pamphlets to share.

The Pitt-Greensburg Alumni Association will be hosting a tent at this year’s Greensburg YMCA Croquet Tournament being held on the Pitt-Greensburg campus Sunday, June 10, 2007. Alumni interested in attending the event can qualify for admission ribbons by turning in sponsorships for the 2007 Bobcat Golf Outing which benefits UPG student scholarships, the PGAA, and UPG Athletics. GolfballMark your calendars to be at Totteridge Golf Club on Monday, June 25, 2007. Proceeds from the event benefit the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg athletics programs, student scholarships, and the Pitt-Greensburg Alumni Association. Challenge your skills on one of the area’s premiere courses while helping our students and your Alumni Association.

The day will include:
8:30 a.m. - Registration and Continental Breakfast
10:00 a.m. - Shotgun start (Best ball format)
12:00 p.m. - Boxed lunch on the golf course
3:00 p.m. - Dinner and prizes

Homecoming 2007 will be celebrated the weekend of October 19th. On Saturday, October 20, our football team meets the University of Cincinnati in the annual "River City Rivalry" game.

Pull out the PITT gear, bring your family, and head to Greensburg for a Homecoming celebration. The Alumni Association is planning a 2-day event that weekend including:

- Tailgating at Pitt-Greensburg
- Bus trip to and from Heinz field
