Federal College Work-Study (CWS) provides part-time, on-campus jobs for students with financial need. The money earned is not directly applied to the University bill, instead the student will receive a paycheck at the end of each month worked. To determine eligibility:

  1. The student starts by filing the FAFSA. If selected, the Verification Form with appropriate income tax documentation must be submitted. Returning students must also complete this procedure each year.
  2. Students must then qualify financially
  3. Students must be full-time students at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg.
  4. New Students must submit the paperwork listed below to be placed on a Wait List.
  5. Returning Students must show academic progress.

If the student is eligible, the financial aid award letter will reflect a CWS dollar amount. The award shown is the maximum amount that a student can earn. If your award letter does not list CWS funds, call the Financial Aid Office at 724-836-9881 to request a review of your application.

  1. Review the Work-Study Manual for Students & Supervisors
  2. Review the Work-study Job Descriptions
  3. Read the Student Employment Guidelines and Responsibilities

The Federal Work-Study award does NOT guarantee a position. The student must submit the following documents to the FA Office to be placed on the Wait List.

  1. Print and Complete the UPG Work-Study Program Application
  2. Attach a Resume
  3. Send Items to:
    UPG Work Study Program
    Room 102 Millstein Library
    University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg
    Greensburg PA 15601

When a UPG Supervisor requests an applicant, a copy of the resume is forwarded. The student will also be notified and it is his/her responsibility to contact the Supervisor and arrange an interview. The Supervisor will return the Hire Form to Financial Aid Office.

After a student is hired, the Financial Aid Office will mail a packet of employment forms to the students. Those completed and two forms of identification must be presented at the Financial Office within three days from the start of employment.
