Applications are now being accepted for the
Pitt-Greensburg Alumni Association Student Community Service Award.
This award is to acknowledge a student who exemplifies the spirit of
volunteerism through active participation and service in a community
organization on or off campus while maintaining a good academic
standing with the university. The deadline to submit
applications is Thursday, March 13, 2008. Faculty and staff
may nominate a student for this award. Students may
self-nominate. Applications may be hand-delivered or mailed to
Alumni Relations, c/o Lynch Hall 203A.
Students were informed of this award in the February 15th issue of the intercom. Encourage your student to apply for this $500 award. You can email the link to your son/daughter.
New this year, graduating seniors and their parents are invited to attend a special dinner hosted by Dr. Sharon Smith, President of the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg. The dinner will be held on Friday, April 25, 2008, at 7:30 p.m. in Wagner Dining Hall. The cost will be $20 per person. Look for details coming soon by U.S. mail.
Award-winning poet Nancy Krygowski and senior English Writing major and creative nonfiction writer Lorenzo Lista will present their works at 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, in the coffeehouse, located in Village Hall. This event is free and open to the public. See details about this event and others on the Web page under "Current News." Registration for summer classes began on February 18. It's not too late for your student to sign up. Fall registration begins on March 20th. Students must contact the Academic Affairs office at 724-836-9940 or 9893 starting Monday, February 25th to make an appointment to register. SPRING BREAK - March 9 - 16, 2008. No classes.
