General Information
1. In order to register for classes at UPG, you must have been admitted to the
campus; i.e., you must have complet¬ed an admissions form and paid the
admissions fee or you must have had your records relocated to UPG from another
Pitt campus or school. Students who have not been formally admitted to UPG will
not be permitted to register.
2. Since registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, the sooner you
register, the more likely you will be to have all of the courses that you want.
If you register for a course that is already closed, the Registrar's Office
will not accept your registration unless you have a permission slip from the
instructor or depart¬ment head. All registration, course change, etc. forms
must have the student's 7-digit Pitt Student ID number in order to be
processed.
3. No course registrations or Add/Drops will be processed from December 18
through December 20, 2007.
4. All campus buildings and offices will be closed from Decem¬ber 24, 2007 -
January 1, 2008. If you need official copies of your transcripts, you may
complete the request form in the Registrar's Office before December 24 or after
January 1.
5. No student who has a stop order on his/her records from the Office of
Students Accounts, the Vice President for Academic Affairs Office, or the
Library will be permit¬ted to com¬plete his/her regis¬tration in the
Registrar's Office.
6. To help you plan your Spring Term schedule, your advisor has a copy of the
tentative Summer Term (Spring/Summer) schedule. You may wish to defer certain
courses to the third term, or resolve potential Spring Term conflicts by taking
courses in the Summer Term. Additional reference copies are available in the
Registrar's Office and Library.
7. GRADUATION PROCEDURES: all students who intend to finish their program of
studies during the Fall Term must complete their final registration with Ms.
Michele Shuey, Senior Advisor, for a Degree Audit/Grad Application before
registering for classes. Call 724/836-9940 or 724/836-9893 for an appointment.
Students who intend to graduate in April, 2008 should refer to the "Calendar of
Important Dates."
8. NOTICE TO STUDENTS WITH DISABILI¬TIES: If you have a disability for which you
are or may be requesting an accommodation, you are encouraged to contact both
your instructor and the Director of Learning Resources Center, Dr. Lou Ann
Sears, Room 105 Faculty Office Building (724) 836-7098 (voice)/(724) 836-7128
(TTY), as early as possible in the term. Learning Resources Center will verify
your disability and determine reasonable accommodations for this course.
Between July 1 and August 31, students interested in disability services should
see Carol Calloway in Millstein (724/836-9904, 724/836-7128).
9. Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act Notice: Students and prospective students
have the right to review the University's most recent report prepared pursuant
to the Federal Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act, 20 U.S.C. 1092. The
report is available in the Millstein Library. Inquiries may be made at the
Reference/Information Desk.
Registration and Advising
Procedures
FOR FULL-TIME (DAY) STUDENTS
1. The registration period for the Spring Term for full-time day students is
October 25-December 7. Make an ap¬point¬ment to see your advi¬sor during this
period. Please refer to the Calendar of Important Dates.
2. Permanent advisors have been assigned to all full-time students. If you have
not been as-signed an advisor, please contact Michele Shuey in LH 209.
3. All full-time students must plan a schedule of classes with their advisor on
or before December 8. The advi¬sor's signature on the enrollment form will
indicate approval of your choice of courses. You must complete all parts of the
enrollment form.
4. Returning full-time students who fail to com¬plete their registration by
December 7 will be charged the official University late registration fee.
FOR PART-TIME (EVENING) STUDENTS
1. Attending part-time students may register from October 25 to January 7 at any
time between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Mon¬day through Friday in the Registrar's
Office. No ap¬point¬ments are necessary.
2. Advising Schedule: Academic advising appointments for attending part-time
students and those interested in attending part-time can be arranged by
contacting the Office of Academic Affairs. Call 724/836-9940 or 724/836-9893
for an appointment.
Adding and Dropping Courses
All registrations are frozen from December 18 - 20, 2007. No add/drops will be
permitted during this period.
FOR FULL-TIME STUDENTS:
TO ADD/DROP A COURSE: Have your advisor sign the enrollment form;
Take the form to the Registrar's Office to complete the add/drop process.
FOR PART-TIME STUDENTS:
TO ADD/DROP A COURSE: Go to the Registrar's Office to complete the enrollment
form.
Cross-Registration
Certain courses at Seton Hill College and Westmoreland County Community College
are open to full-time UPG students. Please consult the Seton Hill and
Westmoreland County Community College course schedules and bulletins that are
located online at the following websites if you are interested in
cross-registration :

Students are permitted to cross-register for one course per Fall and Spring
term provided they are full-time students.
Cross-registered courses require the approval of the student's academic advisor
before they can be processed by the Registrar. Forms are available in the
Registrar's Office, 120 ML.

Students may complete all coursework at the Greensburg Campus in the following
pre-professional fields:

NOTE: The Information Science (IS) program offered through the School of
Information Sciences can be completed at the Greensburg Campus. Students must
apply for admission to the program once they earn approximately sixty credits.
Relocation Programs for
Full-Time / Day Students
Those who intend to relocate to the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) in
Pittsburgh as full-time day students should be aware of the following:
(a) You must take one-half of the minimum number of credits required for your
major in Pittsburgh if you wish to graduate from CAS.
(b) A maximum of 12 credits in non-liberal arts cours¬es are acceptable for
graduation. Generally, non-liberal arts courses at UPG are those in
Engineer¬ing, Management, Information Science, Physical Education, and the
Administration of Justice classes that do not have sociology numbers.
(c) Currently, 60 posted credits (45 must be Pitt University credits) and a
quality point average of at least 3.0 are necessary to relocate to CAS.
(d) Satisfactory completion of MATH 0031 (Algebra) and ENGCMP 0020 (College
Composition 2)

Second Baccalaureate Degrees
Students with baccalaureate degrees from accredited institutions may seek a
second degree at UPG. A maximum of 90 (out of a minimum of 120 required)
credits of advance standing may be granted. For more detailed information,

Student Responsibilities in the
Advising Process
The student is ultimately responsible for making final decisions on course
selection and other academic matters within the guidelines and policies of the
University and the Greensburg campus. Students are expected to be generally
familiar with the basic degree and major requirements.
