Let's Do Lunch

GlassWe invite you to take advantage of an excellent opportunity to dine with old friends, make business connections, and see how Pitt-Greensburg continues to grow. The Pitt-Greensburg Alumni Association (PGAA) will be hosting luncheons to be held the first Tuesday of each month. Anyone who attended Pitt-Greensburg and all Pitt-Greensburg graduates are invited to join fellow alumni for a delicious meal catered by Chartwells Educational Dining Services.

Take a break from your busy day to enjoy lunch and get caught up with your fellow alumni. During the luncheon, the PGAA will incorporate a 10-15 minute presentation about various topics including networking, financial planning, identity theft and other subjects in which you have expressed interest. If you would like to see a particular topic presented, or if you would like an opportunity to present at an upcoming luncheon, please send an email to upgalum@pitt.edu and put "Networking Luncheon" in the subject line.

At the November 7th luncheon, the PGAA will raffle one set of two tickets to the Pitt vs. Louisville football game being played at Heinz field on Saturday, November 25, 2006. The club level seats offer a great way for you and a guest to enjoy cheering on our Panthers. To enter the drawing, simply bring a business card when you attend the October and November luncheons (one business card per Alum per luncheon please).

Upcoming luncheons for this calendar year are scheduled from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm in Chambers Hall on October 3, November 7, and December 5. The programs will resume in February, again on the first Tuesday of each month. The cost of the meal is $7.50. 2006-2007 Annual Fund Campaign
As the 2006-2007 Annual Fund campaign gets underway, we hope you will consider giving back generously to your alma mater. The Annual Fund supports all areas of the University including: Athletics, Student Government, Clubs, and Campus Life; Academic Programs; Campus Growth including facilities, faculty, and staff; and Scholarships, Endowments, and Financial Aid. Today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders. Your contribution adds to their success and the success of the University. Your gift will make the difference and for that we are grateful.

Thanks to all who responded to our survey in the May/June issue of the Blue and Gold. Congratulations to Merle Roger Mull and Valerie L. Zeoli, winners of the drawing for Pitt football tickets. Having received his BA in Economics in 1966, Mr. Mull began his studies at Pitt-Greensburg and is a long-time supporter. Miss Zeoli, also an alum, completed her degree in Social Sciences from Pitt-Greensburg in 1989, the second class granted four-year degrees at the Greensburg campus.

Jacob Stiffler, Jr. ‘95 became engaged to Shannon Scholz.
Will Hoffman ‘01 and Jamie Houseman ‘02 married on June 3, 2006.
Brian Root ‘04 received his Masters Degree in Student Affairs in Higher Ed and joined the staff of Pitt-Greensburg as live-in Resident Director of Robertshaw Hall.
Jessie Raye Hilliard ‘04 became engaged to Joseph Benjamin Cravener.
Sara Liberto ‘05 has been accepted at Pitt Law School.
Jana Giallonardo ‘01 joined the staff at Pitt-Greensburg this past July as the new Director of Campus Activities and recently married Dave Valentine.

How to get involved…Chairpersons and volunteers needed
The Pitt-Greensburg Alumni Association is working hard to expand the list of programs and events being offered to Alumni. We are currently working with the Offices of Admissions, Career Services, and Athletics and serve the greater community through the Greensburg YMCA Croquet Tournament and the Westmoreland County Food Bank Annual Harvest 5K Run/Walk. If you would like to get more involved in the PGAA, we welcome anyone who is interested in Chairing or serving on a committee and who is willing to bring innovative ideas to the table. Your time and talents play a valuable and integral part in maintaining the continued success of the PGAA. La Cultura 2007

For the past five years, Pitt-Greensburg has been bringing the sights and sounds of countries around the world to our campus. This coming January, we celebrate China. Dine on delicious, authentic cuisine catered courtesy of Chartwells Dining Services as our Master of Ceremonies, Rick Seback from WQED, and the Organization of Chinese Americans Youth Performance Ensemble entertain you. While enjoying an evening of great food and fun with friends, your contribution to the Guy Rosetti International Study Fund helps Pitt-Greensburg students who are studying abroad.

The La Cultura 2007 benefit dinner will take place on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. Advanced booking by December 15, 2006 is $115/person and $920/table of eight. Reservations made after December 15, 2006 will be $130/person and $1040/table of eight.
